Perfect, phenomenal, individual and one of a kind… There are bands which create a totally new quality in music. There are bands which evolve this quality and diversify it. There are also bands which leave their mark in music for a long time, which not only give it a new meaning, but also elevate it to the rank of art near absolution. Favored by music critics, divine and hellish forces and most of all - the fans.
This American group is present on the music scene since 1990 and was formed by a would-be graduate of a military academy in West Point - Maynard James Keenan (who is currently one of the most charismatic vocalists of our times), guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Paul D'Amour and drummer Danny Carey. It didn't take long for the group to gain the appreciation of fans and the media. The music they create escapes any stereotypical classifications, although it may be called extremely climatic, twisted and adamant, mixing parts of rock, metal, progressive and psychedelic elements, and also supplemented with the specific philosophy called Lachrymology. Keenan is also known from the formation A Perfect Circle.
It will be the band's 4th visit in Poland. Their gig in 2006, during the tour promoting "10 000 Days" album, was acclaimed as the most important musical event of the year!
DIR EN GREY
This Japanese band formed in 1997 is going to be a huge sensation during the Metal Hammer Festival. The band is extremly popular in their home-country where they sell records in millions of copies! Numerous stylistic changes that took place in the past 10 years have made the genre the band represents difficult to determine. They started from playing rock music with punk and metal elements and today they belong more to the metal genre that combines goth, death, hard-core and melancholic ballads. Dir En Grey has released six full-length records so far and is among the handful of Japanese bands to have enjoyed notable success in Europe and US. 2007 will definitely be a year to remembered for them. Not only did they sell out tickets for the show in Carling Academy (UK) in just 6 minutes, but they will also support Deftones on tour in US! The band will be also one of the stars of the German festivals: Wacken Open Air and M'era Luna Festival.
FAIR TO MIDLAND
Fair To Midland, founded in 1998 in the quiet farm town of Sulphur Springs in Texas, sped up their career when Seri Tanian, vocalist of System of the Down, came across them. They made such a good impression on him that Tanjan offered them a record contract. And it is Tanjan's company - Serjical Strike - that is to release the band's new album ""Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True" on the 12th June. The group released 2 full-length albums so far ("The Carbon Copy Silver Lining" 2001, "Inter Funda Stifle" 2004). An EP "The Drawn and Quartered" from 2006 was their first release on Serjical Strike. Their music incorporates dynamics distnctive of bands like Tool, King Crimson or Mars Volta. Only in US they have sold over half a million records!
COMA
One of the most popular rock bands in Poland. Their last album "Zaprzepaszczone Siły Wielkiej Armii Świętych Znaków" got a very warm applause both from critics and from fans. It was described as a unique blend of atmosphere and aggression recognizable from the very first note. As a visible result of the appreciation they received a Polish award Fryderyk for the best rock/metal album of the 2006.
DELIGHT
On May 14, 2005, Delight played a gig at the Wave Gotik Treffen Festival in Leipzig, Germany. The gig was part of a contest, and Delight were voted the best band of the event, earning a long-term contract with Roadrunner Records. It was the first Polish band to be signed by that rock/metal/alternative label. The new offering from the band - "Breaking Ground" - is the 5th album in their career and at the same time the first one for Roadrunner Records. Produced in Canada by Rhys Fulber, famous for his work with Fear Factory, Paradise Lost, and Front Line Assembly, among many others, the album has become a milestone for the band. Being their most mature album, both vocally and musically, it shows a new direction in their career.
