Modern black metal is often criticized for adding too much ?popular? elements into the genre, such as orchestral and symphonic parts or clean vocals. But the progression of the music is inevitable, same as each band?s personal evolution. Tidfall seems to have found a perfect solution for joining both tradition and modernization ? their music easily combines classic, brutal black metal with industrial and symphonic passages, altogether forming a truly breathtaking mixture! Metal Mind Productions presents the exclusive re-releases of Tidfall?s two LPs ? ?Instinct Gate? and ?Nucleus? ? which prove the group?s status as one of the most promising names in today?s black metal music.

Their second full-length album, ?Instinct Gate? (2002), proved to be a black metal masterpiece, joining harsh, death metal vocals with crushing guitars, but also with an almost prog-metal technical precision and symphonic arrangements. No wonder that the group was soon compared to Dimmu Borgir. However, Tidfall offered music that was far more complex and brutal. Reviewers soon begun comparing the band to other acts, such as Old Man?s Child, Lunaris and Hollenthon. The album gained many positive opinions and with such brilliant songs as ?My Wrathful Eyes? and the opening ?Children of Man?, it proved that black metal was doing more than fine.

The follow-up album, ?Nucleus? (2003), was a definite step forward compared to the previous release, and introduced some brand new elements in the group?s style. The first difference came with the atmosphere of the whole LP ? much darker and more futuristic than before. Tidfall were never afraid to experiment with the genre and this time they decided to join traditional black metal heaviness with an industrial feel. The result was truly astounding ? the band managed to present a modern black metal masterpiece, violent but at the same time well-produced. Reviewers noticed elements similar to such groups as Fear Factory (mostly because of the futuristic opening track ? ?Future Doom?), ?And Oceans and Red Harvest. With ?Nucleus?, Tidfall ultimately proved that they?re one of the top bands on the contemporary black metal scene?
