A preview of Pendragon's "Concerto Maximo" DVD
As announced before Pendragon will release their new DVD ?Concerto Maximo? on 30th March in Europe and on 21st April in US.
Shortly after the release of their latest album ?Pure?, undoubtedly one of the most noteworthy prog-rock releases of the year 2008, the legendary Pendragon for once more visited the Wyspiański Theater in Katowice, Poland, to celebrate the band?s 30th anniversary. With their outstanding performance, and with their line-up strengthened by the addition of a new drummer Scott Higham (also known from his past cooperation with Clive Nolan on the project Caamora), the band surely proved that they?re still a formidable force on the prog-rock scene!
The 30th anniversary of Pendragon makes the band?s members summarize all these years. Here is what Peter Gee said: ?30 years, wow! It seems like a lifetime ago when in 1978 Nick Barrett and Nigel Harris formed Pendragon with original members Julian Baker and Stan Cox. I was there at their very first gig at the Marshall Rooms in Stroud, as a fan. In the early days they were playing rock cover songs, but by the time I joined Pendragon in 1981, they were already playing all of their own material. Looking back now over the last 30 years, there have been so many highlights for me - our first gig at the Marquee Club in London in 1982, playing the Reading Rock Festival and our Friday Rock Show Session on Radio 1 in 1983, recording our first album and playing at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1985 - right through to headlining the Musik Centrum in Holland in 1993, our first tours of Poland and South America, and more recently, playing at the Loreley Festival in 2007. But over the years, filming these live DVDs in Poland has always been another highlight for me, as it has helped to get our music across to a whole new audience - and we must give special thanks to Tommy Dziubiński and his team for all of their hard work and support over the years. I also want to thank all those other great musicians who have been a part of Pendragon over the last 30 years and for all that they have brought to the music - Nigel Harris, Julian Baker, Stan Cox, John Barnfield, Robert Dalby, Rik Carter, Matt Anderson, Fudge Smith, James Colah and Joe Crabtree. And lastly, I want to thank all you guys out there who buy this DVD, and who have helped to keep Pendragon going, through your unwavering support over the last 30 years. Thank you all."
The forthcoming DVD features 150 minutes of the band?s live performance, an exclusive bonus video featuring interviews with the band members and behind the scenes footage, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, photo gallery and more! The material from ?Concerto Maximo? DVD will also be available in two other formats: special edition DVD+2CD (limited to 3000 copies) and 2CD digipak (limited to 2000 copies).
