PROGROCK FESTIVAL 2006
Pendragon stands for years of unchangeable popularity, hundreds of shows and hordes of faithful fans all over the world, especially in Poland. Among others we will hear the material from their latest album, “Believe”. On “Believe” we will find the classic Pendragon as well as some new sounds, although fully progressive. Incorporated are various motives and influences, such as Celtic and flamenco sounds. Precise lyrics mixed with the music form a convincing and moving unity. The album has become a real gem for fans used to Pendragon’s traditional approach. During the concert in Warsaw the fans will finally have a chance to hear this album live!
During their last tour, promoting the record “Not Of This World”, Pendragon gave six enthusiastically received performances in Poland. For the successor of “Not Of This World” we had to wait whole 4 years, but the effect is far beyond expectations! The band created an album which undoubtedly will be considered one of the best not only in the discography of the band, but also in the whole progressive genre. The record had its premiere in Poland at the end of August 2005. “I was searching again for this element in the music that I could be excited with and I think that I finally found it on that album” – comments Nick Barret, Penragon’s leader.
Quidam is another great Polish art-rock formation. Their last album, called “surRevival”, which the band translates as ‘survival” and “revival”, is their fifth studio release. Quidam returned with a fresh line-up and a new record in June this year. They begun with a warmly received promotional concert in the Agnieszka Osiecka Studio. The audience could once again hear how harmonically transitory compositions are set next to a sound filled with internal fire.
As for the performance by prog-hardrock/metal Mind Key, it will be a treat for all who are familiar with the sounds of Dream Theatre, Symphony X or Shadow Gallery. They band does not lack, however, melodic fragments and memorable compositions.. In Warsaw we will also see Gary Chandler, the leader of the neoprogressive Jadis and Steve Thorne, a British bard, multi-instrumentalist and author of lyrics. Thorne supports Jadis on their tours and has his own solo career. On his account he has an album very well received in the progressive culture, called “Emotional Creatures Part One”.
